Privacy Policy
Overview
RayKey is designed to keep most information on your device. Reminders, notes, contacts and documents are not uploaded for household synchronization. Optional sign-in and household sharing use Firebase to synchronize Buy items between household members.
RayKey does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Information stored on your device
RayKey stores memories, reminders, recurrence details, completion history, Buy items, extracted document text and other information you choose to save in local app storage.
When you save a document image, RayKey copies the accepted image into protected local app storage. Deleting that document memory also deletes RayKey’s managed local image copy.
Optional account and household sharing
RayKey can be used without signing in. If you choose Sign in with Apple or passwordless email sign-in, Firebase Authentication processes an account identifier, your email address when available, and the household display name you provide.
If you create or join a household, RayKey stores your household membership and shared Buy items in Google Cloud Firestore. This allows Buy items to synchronize between household members. Reminders, private notes, contacts and documents are not uploaded for this synchronization.
Voice capture
Voice capture begins only after you select the microphone and grant the required permission. RayKey uses the speech-recognition service provided by your phone. Depending on your device and settings, captured audio may be processed by Apple, Google or another configured speech provider. RayKey stores the resulting text only after you review and accept it and does not intentionally retain the source audio.
Document capture and text recognition
Document capture begins only after you select the camera or photo library and grant the corresponding permission. RayKey uses Google ML Kit text recognition. Document inputs and recognized outputs are processed on-device. Google may receive SDK performance and utilization metrics for diagnostics, maintenance, improvement and abuse prevention.
Notifications
RayKey can schedule local reminders after you grant notification permission. These notifications are generated from information stored locally on your device. RayKey does not currently use a RayKey push-notification server.
Data deletion and retention
Deleting RayKey removes its locally stored app data unless the operating system retains a device backup outside RayKey’s control.
You can select Delete account inside Family & sharing to permanently remove your Firebase Authentication account, RayKey cloud profile, household membership and invitation records. If you are the only member of a household, its shared Buy items are also deleted. If other members remain, ownership passes to another member and the household’s shared Buy items remain available to them.
Account deletion does not remove reminders, documents, contacts or notes that exist only on your phone.
Your choices
You may decline microphone, speech-recognition, camera, photo-library or notification permission and continue using the parts of RayKey that do not require those permissions. You may use RayKey without an account, sign out, leave a household or permanently delete your account.
Service providers
RayKey uses Apple system services, Google ML Kit, Firebase Authentication and Google Cloud Firestore as described above. Their processing is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as RayKey changes. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to raykeysupport@gmail.com.
